laying low

Hey you all! So sorry for the long vacay. I have actually had a pretty psychotic last few months. After some careful consideration, I decided to transfer schools. After a rough transition to my large university in New York, I began thinking about a small college that had wait-listed me. They actually contacted me over Thanksgiving and offered me a spot during the spring semester. At first it seemed like the golden ticket but as time passed I began to make my way at school and the large size didn't overwhelm me as much. I ended up getting a 3.9 last semester, which actually made my decision even harder. I had to choose comfort or take a leap of faith. It took a lot of talking, thinking and prayer but I decided to go for the new school. I know it's small size and involved student body will fit my needs. I also know this university will help me be able to get the most out of my college experience and I also see it as the perfect place that will allow me the flexibility to learn about myself. I know to some it may seem like a lot for my first year of college but I hate settling and needed to find that perfect fit.

But where that leaves me is a long relaxing break. I won't be starting my new school until the end of the month and all of my friends have left for school. So I have been sleeping far too long, baking, walking my dog, shopping with my mom, on Pintrest(how addicting is it???), and watching way too much HBO. I have been on the search for a good book. I completely judge a book based on it's cover which has proven to be sound advice because I have read two duds (with really cute covers) so far. Any recommendations? How have you all been spending your free time?

cyber monday

My next three weeks, the last of the semester, are slammed full of projects, quizzes, papers and exams. Just looking at my crazy schedule brought on a feeling of panic. So I did what I always do when I get stressed...online shop! I don't even purchase as much as browse. It's like window shopping online, it's just the best. Cyber Monday is all the fun of Black Friday without the cat fights and 4 AM wake up calls. I want to share my favorite sites for you all to check out:
cusp hunter boot sale: Super cheap!
madewell sale on sale:
What are your all favorite sites to check out on Cyber Monday? Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!

rainy day.

Rainy days are my favorite. I love when you have nothing to do and you can just stare out the window and watch the raindrops drip from the window sills. There is nothing cozier than curling up on the couch with some Netflix, hot chocolate and unfortunately for me today, homework. I have my perfect rain music and cozy Penn State sweatshirt and ahh nothing more relaxing. Lucky for me right as I finished all my classes and meetings and I got back to my dorm, cue the rain. Perfect timing. Everybody just lays low and sometimes people just need the weather to remind them to slow down even if it is just for a lazy afternoon.
If you are not into the whole laying low thing, I  recommend a nice long run when it's pouring like crazy outside. I am also a big long-distance runner and rain to me is the best motivation. I usually try and get out and get a couple miles in before it stops. The rain has a way of pushing me along.
Usually when it's raining I pull out my Hunter rain boots, leggings/skinny jeans, a cute button down with my yellow Northface shell . Everyone loves to make fun of my jacket but I love it. To me yellow is so classic rain gear. I remember the days rocking my ladybug umbrella. Please tell me I wasn't the only one...Whenever I wear my rain boots, I love my ability to walk right through a puddle the size of small pond and splash around. I feel like a seven year old.
How do you all feel about rain? Love it or hate it?

what i am thankful for...11/9/11

i am thankful for today's beautiful weather.
I was able to whip out a dress, jean jacket, scarf and a pair of leather boots today to class(probably the last time my legs will see the light of day until March). There is something about the sun being out that just seems to make everyone happy and smiley. High of sixty nine in upstate New York in November? I like it.

i am thankful for my patagonia pullover.
Oh my goodness. I ordered mine in August on sale for sixty dollars and my parents just sent to me. I don't know how I ever lived without it. It's so snuggly and cozy. Never taking it off...this may be a problem.
i am thankful for starbucks.
Those holiday cups just do it for me. I love the smell of the rich coffee. Now they even have my favorite holiday flavor, Peppermint Mocha, in skinny form. It rocks!

favorite things 11/6/11

kate spade sparkler coin purse... I always love me some kate spade. All of her items are so sleek and well made. I still use my kate spade nylon messenger bag everyday for class and after having it for a few years, there is not a tear in sight. Now I love this coin purse for two reasons. Number one: sparkles are my favorite. I am totally sure if they would be considered classy but I think they give any outfit a little flare and always make me happy. Number two: perfect for ID and keys. Now this is my more practical reason but I know I am always on the hunt for a quality ID holder and as I just said sparkles make me happy so why not be happy every time you take out your keys. :)

tory burch tumbled leather reva ballet flats... Although Tory Burch is absolutely adorable it is also absolutely expensive. But when I splurge on an expensive item, I like to make sure its something I will get a lot of use out of. I have the suede Reva flats and they are my go to shoe. Every time you wear them you will be showered in compliments. Plus they are oh so chic and always timeless. I love this pair because I love how they are an unexpected neutral. They are in a gorgeous tan color that is super glamorous and the leather can survive the wear and tear that shoes always end up going through.
vineyard vines make up bag gift set...Honestly when I first saw this I was not thinking of who to give this to, instead I was thinking how can I get my own hands on it! I am loving the classic Vineyard Vines whale pattern on the large bag and the quilted design on the other two is so classy. My quilted bags are always the ones that I end up keeping for many years. I love how you could throw one in your tote bag and another for traveling. A girl can never have too many makeup bags and having small bags can help keep things together and avoid those frantic Monday morning search parties.
